Lake Tekapo SnowfallRobin NicholsOct 281 min readRated NaN out of 5 stars. This was what greeted us at 6am. A council ute parked across the highway to block off the main road! After 18 hours snowing, the ice begins to melt! The view from our cosy bedroomDown on the lakeshore things were very quiet - I think most of the tourists were a bit stunned to see so much snowOn the road towards Fairlie even the relatively low lying hills were smothered in snowA car speeding past on the Tekapo to Fairlie highwayClose-up snapped on the lake shore. At its worst, visibility was down to a couple of hundred metres. As we drove south-east we saw this tremendous contrast between the rolling green hills and the mountains in the not so far distance.
