I thought I'd post a couple of pics from our drive today, from Te Anau to Milford Sound, a distance of about 120kms.

As you can see it was wet with the cloud covering the mountains for most of the time - but there were still opportunities for some pictures, even if they are all mostly black-and-white

New snow on old rock. The drive into Milford Sound was quite exciting - the temperature was down to 3C as we drove over the pass leading to the sound. On our return we drove through quite a snowstorm for 15 or 20 minutes. Snow, mostly dirty old stuff from last year, was still packed around the road edges in places and the Kea birds were seen in force once we slowed to a halt to wait for the green light to let us drive through the Homer tunnel.

Several Keas appeared once we stopped, waiting to access the Homer Tunnel. Open the window and these curious parrots hop onto the car to check us out. Feeding them is strictly taboo!
